A board certified bariatric physician, Dr. Huffman has been instrumental in training and educating physicians and surgeons in the art and science of bariatric medicine for over two decades in the U.S.  A leading medical authority on obesity and its metabolic diseases, he has been a bariatric medical consultant to Roche, Abbott, Ethicon Endo Surgery, Covidien-Autosuture, Allergan, Bariatrix, HealthWise, ProThera, DaVinci, Invacare, and Gendron.

Dr. Huffman travels extensively throughout the U.S. educating employers, unions, employees, patients, primary care physicians, bariatric surgeons, hospital administrators, senior healthcare executives, medical directors, insurer decision makers, governors, legislator, and policy makers, to help them better understand the cost of the obesity epidemic and the value that bariatric medicine and surgery brings to their bottom line and to the health of those suffering from obesity.

He has trained and mentored hundreds of physicians, nurses, dieticians, exercise and behaviorist throughout the U.S. as a bariatric educator for the American Society of Bariatric Physicians, the American Board of Bariatric Medicine, the Obesity Society, and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and lectured to thousands of U.S. and International physicians over the past 20 years.

Through ibarihealth Dr. Huffman has developed home based preoperative and postoperative patient care programs that sends a team of healthcare providers into the homes of patients prior to and after surgery to ensure reduce risk of surgery and improved outcomes from surgery for those patients traveling great distances for surgery.  This national network of healthcare providers works with the patient’s own physicians to engage these physicians in the preop and postop care process, and to help introduce them to the overseas surgeons and hospitals which leads to additional referrals from these vital U.S. healthcare gatekeepers.
